Everything you need to astound and impress your family this Christmas
...if these beauty-related topics come up (which they almost certainly will)
How in the name of all that is holy does Lindsay Lohan suddenly look this good?
I have a general rule for NBWI that I don’t want it to be a place of idle speculation about undisclosed celebrity cosmetic work, but there’s no way La Lohan’s glow-up isn’t going to come up in convs around the globe this year. So I’ll give you a few pointers so you don’t feel left out.
Non-surgical stuff that she’s almost certainly done:
Changed her parting
Lost weight
Eyelash extensions/false lashes
Hair extensions
Microneedling
Laser resurfacing and/or chemical peels
Stopped getting filler
Veneers
Beauty filters have also almost been certainly added to the recent photos of her. She still looks INCREDIBLE on screen - eg her appearance on The View - but nothing like the almost elven perfection of those jaw-dropping red carpet photos.
Surgical stuff she has probably had done:
Upper and possibly lower blepharoplasty (eyelid lift)
Yep, that’s it.
Surgical stuff she has possibly had done:
Nose job/tip slimming
The chief takeaway here should be how much of a difference skincare and makeup alone can make. She will likely have spent A FORTUNE on these, but I don’t think she’s seen a huge amount of Scalpel Action.
Is applying beef tallow to the face a good idea?
No. FFS. Of course it isn’t.
The fact that this will come up in at least some of your households this Christmas is why this site exists.
The tiktokification of beauty is getting out of hand and this is one of the more egregious examples.
Look. Beef tallow is an emollient so, yes, it will add moisture to the skin. And if you kept cows a few centuries ago and had dry skin, it was better than nothing, but there’s absolutely no reason anyone should be using it in the 21st century. It will RUIN your pillowcases and make you smell like McDonalds c19941. And, crucially, it’s more likely to block your pores and give you spots than it is to improve your complexion.
I bore myself with this, but LRP’s Cicaplast Baume and some azelaic acid will almost certainly be a better idea than smearing beef fat on your face.
Getting plastic surgery abroad is cheaper and safe
It isn’t.
I wang on about this at length here
If you need further evidence, there are a bunch of links below in the footnotes2.
But this is a lot more Christmassy.
What are the beauty trends for 2025?
Metallic eyeshadow and brightly coloured eyeshadow
Blurred or satin skin (glass skin and clean beauty3 are on the way out). Charlotte Tilbury’s skin tint is a good place to start.
Skinimalism4. Basically fewer products, but those that you have are multi-taskers. Marketing teams have been trying to push this since 2021, but it looks like it may actually stick in 2025.
Smoky eyes and cat’s eye eyeliner
Berry lips - lips stains are about to have a moment (Etude House’s are incredible)
Brown makeup (think a modern version of the 90s bronzer/brown lip liner/brown eyeshadow vibe5).
Very long hair6
LESS FILLER
Skinny catwalk models (apparently the current ones were on the chubby side 🫥) and skinny jeans.
Until the next time! x
I mean, if you’re into this, this is a judgement-free zone
I will be thrilled to see the back of this irritating marketing gimmick
Unfortunately, there’s always another irritating marketing gimmick right around the corner
Yeah… I’m not sure I can imagine this ending well for anyone either 😬
